Founded in February 2011 in Copenhagen – Denmark Diaspora African Women in Development (DAWIDA) is a non-governmental, African women-led organization that promotes and advocates for the empowerment and rights of Diaspora African women and youth. Promoting women’s rights refer to the need for women’s equal participation in political, economic, social and cultural spheres, women’s equal access to resources and opportunities, and the eradication of all forms of inequality and discrimination in public and private domains. DAWIDA seeks to empower Diaspora African women and youth to play a stronger role as agents of change/ decision-makers in community & international development and to participate in all areas of social, political and economic development.
